Many people are looking forward to hearing from Rob Haynes , who is leading the five main bible talks this year at KCC. Here is some background information about Rob:
Rob Haynes is a Minister of the Anglican Church of Australia. He trained at Moore Theological College and served in parishes in Sydney before moving into training with the Church Missionary Society in 1988 with a view to taking a teaching role in the Northern Territory at Nungalinya College, Darwin.
Rob and his wife Leanna were given the opportunity to live in Angurugu, on Groote Eylandt for two months before Rob commenced as a Bible and Theology teacher/trainer in 1989. The link with Groote has become a long and dear partnership in the gospel over the subsequent years.
In short, Rob became the Coordinator of the Theology Dept at Nungalinya around 1993. In 1998 he and Leanna moved to Groote Eylandt to support the churches, which had lost their first ordained Aboriginal clergy in a series of illnesses which led to their early deaths. Before leaving Groote for Nungalinya again, in 2008, Rob was privileged to attend the ordination of four local deacons, two in Angurugu and two in Umbakumba.
Rob became Theology Dept Coordinator again until his retirement in 2012/13.
Rob and Leanna now live in Goolwa, right at the mouth of the mighty River Murray in South Australia. Leanna’s elderly mother lives with them now, and their children and grandchildren live about an hour’s drive away, in Adelaide.
Rob and Leanna attend the local Anglican Church in Goolwa. Rob has a general license to serve in the Anglican Diocese of the Murray. He and Leanna and Mum are working on making a new home for themselves in a lovely place near the river.
